First week opens Scott's eyes
Posted August 11, 2008
CU freshman running back Darrell Scott was bound to experience a learning curve at the college level after a high school career in which he made playing tailback look easy.
Scott led the Buffs in rushing today in the first scrimmage of fall camp, despite a sore groin and not being in top shape. He admitted afterward that during the first week of camp he has discovered he needs to take his game up a notch at this level
"It's just the speed," Scott said. "You've got to get used to it. I think once I get that down, I think I'll be good."
The speed of the game is not the only difference for Scott and other members of freshman class. The mental side of the game is much more complicated now and requires dedication each day once he leaves the practice fields.
"You've got to stay in your playbook every day," Scott said. "That's basically what I'm doing."
The Buffs practice twice today (10:15-11:45 a.m.) in shells and (4-6 p.m.) in pads.
