Broken bones don't stop the Buffs

Posted August 18, 2008

Two members of the Colorado defense have been participating in camp despite broken bones. Linebacker B.J. Beatty has a fractured bone in his left leg and is wearing a soft cast and cornerback Cha'pelle Brown has a fracture in his left hand and also sports a cast.

Beatty suffered his injury during the first week of drills and came back to practice on it thinking he had suffered a bad bruise. He even spent one afternoon pushing wheelbarrows full of sand for strength coach Jeff Pitman as he sat out one practice.

Beatty said it's only a hairline fracture and he should be back to full strength soon.

Brown reportedly suffered a fracture the day before the first scrimmage of camp.

…Coach Dan Hawkins, never a big fan of depth charts, said coaches will probably make some adjustments to the current depth chart in the coming days.

Hawkins said coaches will begin to install the game plan for CSU on Thursday. The Buffs practiced only once Monday and will have a light workout today before resuming two-a-days on Wednesday.

It would be nice if we could stay healthy for like, I dunno, TWO DAYS

Think Hawk will run a trick play this season where we throw to Nate Solder? That would be sweet. I'm sure a converted TE to OT could catch everyone off guard and make the catch!
