Eastern Washington could be tough
Posted August 31, 2008
Don't mean to get ahead of ourselves here or anything, but since CU is playing a day after most of the rest of the college football world, we already know how the next opponent fared Saturday.
The Buffs host Eastern Washington in Folsom Field next week. It will be only the second meeting with a Championship Subdivision team in CU history. The Buffs aren't likely to take the Eagles lightly after losing to Montana State to start the 2006 season. They also know EWU played tough in a 49-24 loss at Texas Tech on Saturday.
The Eagles were still in the game in the fourth quarter after scoring a touchdown with :21 left in the third quarter to make it 35-24. EWU quarterback Matt Nichols completed 36 of 61 passes for 335 yards and one score against a Red Raiders team ranked No. 12 in the nation.
