Hawk's first sellout
Posted October 1, 2008
Dan Hawkins has coached the Colorado Buffaloes in 29 football games in his short tenure in Boulder. Eleven of those games have been at Folsom Field. In his 12th home game Saturday against No. 5 Texas, Hawkins will finally see the place full.
Officials are expecting a crowd of more than 54,000 Saturday at the sold out stadium on the hill.
I asked Hawkins after today's (Wednesday) practice what he thinks about finally seeing a sellout Saturday.
"We're going to try and do our best either way," he said. "I think it's awesome. That's great. That's what we want every week. Fans always ask, "How can we help? What can we do?' I'm like, 'Hey, fill it up.'"
Saturday's game against the Longhorns won't be the only sellout Hawkins and the Buffs see this year, but it could be the only one at home. Missouri officials announced Wednesday the Tigers' home games against Oklahoma State and CU are both sellouts at Faurot Field in Columbia, Mo.
