Linemen motivated by addition of Goree

Posted October 15, 2008

When Colorado coaches moved Eugene Goree from the defensive to offensive line last week, they did so, in part, to motivate the current group of offensive linemen to play better.

Goree is listed as the third-string left guard behind starter Blake Behrens. Offensive line coach Jeff Grimes said this week he believes there is a possibility Goree could play this week, jumping several veteran players depth chart.

Junior Devin Head is the starter at right guard and while it doesn't appear Goree is slated to bite into his playing time, the possibility of losing his starting job has been a good thing.

"I think it's great, honestly," Head said. "It inspires a ton of competition. It makes people play even harder because you never know if your job is safe from week to week.

"From another point of view, it has been helping me personally because teaching somebody helps me learn it better myself."
