When spring football practices ended at Colorado back in March, coach Mike MacIntyre said walk-on quarterback Ty Gangi was leading the competition to be the Buffs’ holder on field goals and extra-point attempts.
MacIntyre will have to find someone else for the job now.
CU confirmed Gangi has transferred to Ventura College in California where he will be able to compete for the starting quarterback role this season. He had little chance of playing quarterback at CU any time soon with four scholarship players set to be on this season’s roster at his position, including two-year starter Sefo Liufau.
With lefty Diego Gonzalez and righty Chris Graham competing at place-kicker along with true freshman right-footed kicker Alex Kinney this fall, whoever wins the CU holder job will have to be adept at holding from either side.
