Kyle Ringo:
Greetings all. Thanks for joining me tonight.
I haven't heard of any other commitments, but it sounds like guys like Kyle Van Noy, Emory Blake and others enjoyed themselves and thought highly of the program and the campus. I think some of these guys are still waiting to see how the Buffs do this season.

Special teams coach Kent Riddle was at a loss trying to explain what Josh was thinking. Save to say he was not thinking clearly on the play, but he doesn't have a lot of experience back there. He will learn and get better.

I never thought to ask, but I will this week, and try to get an answer for you on the blog.

I think he should continue with Cody until Cody proves he's not the guy. I don't think that has happened yet considering the injuries to the offensive line and the fact CU has played two of the best defensive fronts in the nation in the past two weeks. When Ballenger came in last week, he wasn't facing blitzes and was throwing against a zone defense. He did well, but that wasn't what Cody faced in the first half and third quarter.

I believe you are talking about Jack Harris from Parker. I talked to Texas wide receiver Emory Blake and he sounded like he is strongly considering CU. Same with some others. CU sort of sells itself, and when the program begins to win and lopsided defeats are a real rarity, it should be even easier to recruit here.

I've never met a football coach who wanted to play ball control. They want to score and stop the other team from scoring. Hawkins says time of possession is the most overrated stat in football. I agree with him. Think Missouri gives a hoot about ball control and time of possession? Nope, They score and stop people from scoring. You don't ever want to go into a game thinking you have to keep the ball away from the other team or you're going to lose. You think about scoring and stopping the opponent. Period.

Dan Hawkins told us Sunday that he didn't think anyone would miss significant time from injuries suffered Saturday. So it sounds like both should be OK

I have no idea how long coaches will stick with him. I think they see this a little differently than you do. It sort of makes me chuckle a little to hear fans blame it all on him. Did you see the pressure he was under the past two weeks. No one ever seems to talk about how tough the kid is and how he bounces back from getting clocked again and again. That probably has an effect on his play, too. If coaches think Ballenger can do better, he will get in the game. It's that simple.

I take them both at their word. I think it's completely plausible that it happened and didn't show up on film. I do think Chase should have identified the culprit.

I think they have both handled it well. You had to know that tough times would come and anonymous folks would blast them on the internet and come up with conspiracy theories about nepotism. Coach Hawkins has no problem criticizing Cody. And Cody has no problem putting the blame for the offensive struggles on his shoulders. I think that's exactly what you want to see from both people in those positions.

They all received small raises on July 1. Jeff Grimes received a larger raise than others. I think they want to pay their assistants at a competitive level and I think they are doing that. These assistants are right in the middle as far as how much they make compared to their counterparts in the Big 12. There are five assistants on this staff making at least $180,000. These guys make a comfortable living.

Yes, I thought they had a decent chance to be 3-2 at this point, and, yes, they still are on track to go to a bowl. They need four more wins to assure themselves of a bowl and I think they can get them.
The biggest surprise is Rodney Stewart without a doubt.
I'd say more some surprises would be how well the cornerbacks are playing and how the defensive front is getting pretty good pressure on the QB. I think Josh Smith has been a surprise in how well he has been able to do in the return game, despite some fumbles and mental mistakes.
I would list the injuries to the o-line, Cody Hawkins' struggles and Darrell Scott's struggles as disappointments. I also think Scotty McKnight seems to be having more trouble getting open this season.

I think Kansas is beatable. I thought that a year ago and the Buffs very easily could have won that game. It's the same formula every week. Get turnovers, take care of the ball, run the ball and stop the run, don't commit stupid penalties. Gives you a great chance every week regardless of the opponent.

He improves by putting it behind him and not letting it affect the next kick. He also needs to get out there and continue to work hard and get better on every part of his approach. He doesn't need to reinvent himself because he had a bad game.

I think they are still a few years away from having the kind of talent and depth across the board that they can be considered to be on the same level with Texas and OU and other elite programs. Maybe another three recruiting cycles, 2009, 2010, 2011. That's just an honest assessment. I know fans won't like to hear.

No, not really, and he wasn't asked about it. That was a complete embarrassment though. CU students need to hold themselves to a higher standard and have a little class. What a joke.
