Buffs Marshall, Wenino named first-team All-Big 12
IRVING, Texas — Colorado soccer players Nikki Marshall and Michelle Wenino were named to the All-Big 12 Conference First Team on Monday.
The announcement marks the second time in school history that two Buffs were named to the first team in the same season. The only other time that Colorado has ever received two All-Big 12 First Team selections in the same year was 2004 when Fran and Laura Munnelly were honored

Marshall led the Buffs with nine goals and two assists this season. The sophomore forward was also named to the conference first team last season.
Wenino, a junior who is making her first appearance on the Big 12 first team, led the Buffs in minutes played (1,720) and her lone goal so far this season was a game-winner.
Junior Nikki Keller and freshmen Kym Lowry andMichaela DeJesus also earned All-Big 12 honors Monday. Keller was named to the second team, while Lowry and DeJesus were selected for the all-newcomer team.
The seventh-seeded Buffs begin the Big 12 tournament Wednesday against No. 2 Texas.
Crush adds Nelson
DENVER — The Colorado Crush reached a deal with wide receiver Ben Nelson. Terms were not released.
Nelson is entering his third year in the Arena Football League. He spent his first two seasons with San Jose.
In his first year, Nelson was named the Rookie of the Year after racking up the second highest receiving yardage total (1,405) by a rookie in AFL history in just 11 games.
Last year he caught 101 passes for 1,257 yards and 25 touchdowns as the SaberCats won the AFL title.
Mammoth signs two
DENVER — The Colorado Mammoth signed veteran defenseman Pat Coyle and transition player Nenad Gajic on Monday.
The Mammoth acquired Gajic prior to the start of last season and he went on to be selected to the National Lacrosse League all-rookie team after compiling 13 goals and 24 assists in 16 games.
Coyle is entering his 12th season in the NLL and fourth with the Mammoth after signing a one-year contract. Coyle has played in 158 games (17 postseason) and is second all time in regular season penalty minutes with 361.
Grabb competing
against best
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — Boulder golfer Oliver Grabb will compete in the Optimist International Tournament of Champions Nov. 17-18 at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
The Boulder High senior will compete against 47 others in the boys 16-18 age division.
The Tournament of Champions is a 36-hole, stroke-play invitational that will showcase some of the most talented young players in the world. Golfers from 24 states, three Canadian provinces and nine other nations will compete in the third annual tournament.
Grabb won four tournaments during the high school season this fall. He placed third in regionals and 18th at state.
Rapids keeper called
by national team
COMMERCE CITY — Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul has been called up to the Senegal National Team for the first time in anticipation of two friendly matches later this month in Paris.
Coundoul will travel to Paris and train with the Lions of Teranga before taking on Mail on Nov. 17 and Morocco on Nov. 21.
This season Coundoul missed only 32 minutes of action for the Rapids. He finished third in Major League Soccer with a goals against average of 1.08. His 120 saves placed him tied for second in the league and his nine shutouts were the most by a Colorado 'keeper since 2004.
