Buffs qualify for NCAA soccer tournament

Soccer team will also host first two rounds

The Colorado soccer team qualified for its fifth straight NCAA Tournament on Monday.

The Buffs finished the season 9-7-4, including a loss to Texas after penalty kicks in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament. CU was on the bubble for being admitted to the NCAA Tournament, yet also earned a host site for the first two rounds of the tournament.

The Buffs play Hawaii (15-4-2) on Friday. Denver (13-4-4) will play No. 2-seeded Portland (15-3-0) in the other game at Prentup Field. The winners of Friday’s games will play Sunday.

Game times have not been determined.

The Buffs advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history last season before losing at Notre Dame.

This is the second consecutive year the Buffs have earned the right to host.
