CU women earn NCAA cross country at-large spot

The Colorado women’s cross country team has received an at-large berth into the Nov. 19 NCAA Cross Country Championships.

The CU men earned an automatic bid to nationals by winning the NCAA Mountain Region Championship on Saturday.

This will mark the 16th straight year CU has sent both the men and women to the championship. The last time Colorado did not send a team was in 1991, when neither team qualified.

The women’s team finished fourth at regionals. The top two teams earned automatic spots in nationals. This was the first time since 1992 that the Buffs didn’t finish in the top two spots and had to wait for the NCAA announcement.

The NCAA finals will be held in Terre Haute, Ind., next Monday and will be televised live on CSTV beginning at 10 a.m. (MT).
