Police found two handguns, a ghost mask from the movie “Scream,” a marijuana grinder and $420 in $20s in a car belonging to a former University of Colorado football player being held for armed robbery, according to a pair of search warrants released Thursday.
In a search of Lionel Harris’ 2008 Dodge Charger, authorities also found a wallet and a debit card belonging to a man who is listed as a witness in the case.
The Camera is not revealing the witness’ name because he and other victims in the case have said they are afraid of possible retribution if they go public.
Harris, a former Buffs safety, was arrested two months ago along with former CU starting quarterback Bernard Jackson on first-degree burglary, aggravated robbery and felony menacing charges in connection with a June 5 home invasion-style robbery on University Hill.
They have been held at Boulder County Jail on $250,000 bond since their arrest.
At a hearing last month, prosecutors accused the suspects, both 23, of entering an apartment in the 1000 block of University Avenue while wearing masks similar to those worn in the “Scream” movies.
They were accused of confronting the residents with handguns, demanding the “keys to a safe” and fleeing the scene with less than $500.
One of the search warrants released Thursday details drugs and drug paraphernalia found at Harris’ Westminster apartment. The report lists a bong, a marijuana grinder and a mason jar filled with a “green leafy substance” that police suspected was pot.
Prosecutors have said they believe Harris and Jackson smoked marijuana days earlier with the victims in the home they’re accused of burglarizing.
Police also found two boxes of Winchester 40-caliber bullets and a pair of women’s panty hose tied in a knot in Harris’ bedroom, according to the warrant.
Harris, of Manvel, Texas, was a senior safety at CU last season. He was enrolled at CU for the recent spring semester.
Jackson, from Corona, Calif., redshirted and practiced as quarterback in the 2003 season. He was moved to wide receiver and kick returner the following year. He was starting quarterback in the Buffs’ 2006 season, which ended in a 2-10 record.
His CU career ended when he was ruled academically ineligible just before the 2007 season began.
In 2005, Jackson became a father, and, in 2006, he learned his son had cancer of the eye. According to court records, Jackson until recently was in a custody battle over his son.

Does anyone else find it kind of funny that the amount of money in the car was 420 dollars?
While a situation like this is no laughing matter, the irony borders on the ridiculous.
