Hempen announces Buffs' 2008 class
University of Colorado soccer coach Bill Hempen announced his 2008 recruiting class on Thursday, a group that includes longtime CU commit Kate Russell of Silver Creek High School.
She joins Ponderosa's Kelci Newlin as the only two in-state recruits in the five-member class.

Kelly Butler (Naperville, Ill.), Kassidy Fitzpatrick (Pleasanton, Calif.) and Hannah Marsala (Alamo, Calif.) round out the group that will begin play for the Buffs in the fall.
Butler was rated one of the top three 2008 graduates from the state of Illinois by the Chicago Sun Times.
All five players led either their high school teams or club teams to state titles while in high school.
Russell helped lead Silver Creek to the Class 4A state semifinals last spring as a junior.
Sullivan joins Huskers
CU assistant volleyball coach Erik Sullivan was named an assistant coach at the University of Nebraska on Thursday.
Sullivan, a member of the 2000 and 2004 United States men's Olympic teams, began coaching under CU head coach Pi'i Aiu in 2004 and helped guide the Buffs to three NCAA tournament appearances in his four seasons with the team.
