Bohn's focus on facility upgrads for Buffs

Football team's success helping raise funds for multiple projects

WINDSOR -- Dan Hawkins' golf game sounds like an FM radio station.

"I shot a cool 107," Colorado's head football coach said after the annual Casotti Classic at Pelican Lakes.

News of the score brought a smile to the face of CU athletic director Mike Bohn.

"We're very happy with our football coach shooting a 107," Bohn said.

There simply isn't time to hit the driving range when your program is driving the fundraising for the entire department.

And thanks to the Buffs' improvement on the gridiron -- CU went from 2-10 in 2006 to 6-7 and a bowl appearance in 2007 -- the athletic department had a surplus of about $2 million last season.

With the luxury suites at Folsom Field already sold out for 2008, an impressive home schedule and optimism about the program entering Hawkins' third year in Boulder, Bohn wants to continue to aggressively raise and spend money to upgrade facilities.

"That excess revenue beyond our projections was huge for us," Bohn said. "Obviously, that's tied to football ticket sales and that's why it's so important to have that support there that generates the support for all the programs."

Bohn and Chancellor G.P. "Bud" Peterson promised Jeff Bzdelik that CU's basketball facilities would be improved dramatically, and relatively quickly, when they lured him away from Air Force 15 months ago.Two key projects for recruiting and convenience -- the construction of a new basketball operations center and the renovation of the men's locker room at the Coors Events Center -- have already been completed. A new floor will be installed at the Coors Events Center this month with the old floor being moved to Balch Fieldhouse where it can still be used to practice on.

Bohn also wants to research getting new video boards and ribbon boards installed to improve the atmosphere and game-day experience at the Coors Events Center.

Building a basketball practice facility -- a $10 million project -- is at the top of Bohn's to-do list. Bzdelik can get out of his five-year contract without a buyout if construction doesn't begin in his third year at CU.

"We are still raising money for that," Bohn said. "That's our No. 1 priority for funding."

Bohn and Peterson are planning to coordinate the construction of the basketball practice facility with the university's construction of a new heating and cooling plant near the Coors Events Center.

"We have a little catch up to do on the practice facility. We're a little further behind than on the heating and cooling facility," Peterson said. "Just because we've been working on the heating and cooling facility for three or four years and just got started on the basketball facility here in the past year and a half or so. We'll bring it up to speed so that we do those both at the same time."

Bohn hopes to break ground on the basketball practice facility, which will include two courts and new offices for the volleyball program, during the spring of 2009. CU's officials estimate that the project could be completed about six months before Bzdelik's fourth season on the bench if the fundraising is completed.

"That is the No. 1 priority for us," Bohn said. "And Dan knows that and he's been supportive of it."

Not that the athletic department isn't ignoring Hawkins' wish list. Last year the football locker room was renovated and the practice bubble was erected. New sod is being laid at Folsom Field this week at a cost of $80,000, and the coaching staff could be game-planning in new meeting rooms at the Dal Ward Center this fall.

"We're hustling like heck to try and get Coach Hawkins' meeting rooms done by the start of the season," Bohn said. "It's going to be really tight."

The athletic department obviously needs the Buffs to take another positive step in the win column to keep the budget from getting tight again. CU kicks off the season on Aug. 31 against Colorado State at Invesco Field.

Notable

Hawkins said he hasn't seen Darrell Scott, CU's prize recruit, on campus yet. The nation's No. 1 running back prospect from the 2008 class is expected to arrive in Boulder soon to begin summer classes and workouts with his new teammates. ... CU senior associate athletic director Tom McGrath expects the men's and women's basketball schedules to be released in the next two weeks when the Big 12 is finished fine-tuning dates. Bzdelik's team will not miss one day of class during the non-conference schedule. ... Bohn said he is still pursuing a naming rights deal for Folsom Field but doesn't expect to have anything in place before the 2008 season.

From the Rocky Mountain News- "Football coach Dan Hawkins said most of his incoming freshmen already are on campus, including prized running back Darrell Scott. . . . Former CU assistant Bob Simmons has returned with his family to Colorado. He has made stops at Oklahoma State, Notre Dame and Washington. . . . Hawkins shot 107 at Monday's annual CU golf outing. "I'd rather have been home watching video," he said.

Football program driving the fund raising ?
Suites sold out ?
$2 million surplus ?
Basketball and volleyball upgrades ?

Sounds all positive to me.

Cue rswright - wherever he is lurking. Im sure we are all looking forward to his diatribes once again

Denver Post, 3 papers, 3 different stories all at the same event!!! "Credits for a required algebra class, or lack thereof, prevented Colorado's star football signee from enrolling in June as planned, but CU running backs coach Darian Hagan believes tailback Darrell Scott will be ready to show his stuff in August drills.

Hagan said Scott, from suburban Los Angeles, is due to arrive in Boulder this week for freshman orientation after completing the high school math course.

A 6-foot-2, 215-pounder, Scott rushed for 2,433 yards and 33 touchdowns last fall for Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure and was ranked as high as the nation's No. 2 overall prospect by Internet recruiting sites.

"Coming in early might have helped Darrell, getting to work out with his teammates and running the offense with them," Hagan said Monday during the annual CU golf day at Pelican Lakes Golf and Country Club. "He's been spending all his time studying. But with his body, it's hard for him to get out of shape.

"I've been talking to him over the phone about (defensive) coverages and the running game. But really, with a guy that talented, you don't want to put too much in his head too soon. You just give him the ball."

Colorado coach Dan Hawkins said he does not anticipate any academic casualties among his freshman class.

A little hairy.

Hawkins said one of the best things about taking the family to Peru to see Machu Picchu recently was climbing the cone-shaped mountain at the ancient Inca city. "You have to be kind of agile; it's about a 5,000- or 6,000-foot drop down to the river and it clears up the gene pool in a hurry," Hawkins said with a grin. "I looked to see how Cody was doing and (his wife) Misti said, 'You have other children here.' I told her (jokingly) that it's one thing to lose a child and it's another thing to lose your starting quarterback!"

"There simply isn't time to hit the driving range when your program is driving the fundraising for the entire department."

What driving range? Bohn can't even make arrangements for golf to play home matches, let alone a driving range.

No point going over this again. You guys all know that football gets the extras while the non revenue sports don't get the basics. Does it all sound positive when our coaches are still 11th out of 12 in salaries. If there were enough football fans to cause the 2 million dollar surplus that would be positive, there aren't. The 2 million dollar surplus came from TV revenues. There has been no increase in season ticket sales this year. Still sound positive? When CU starts having sell outs when the better teams don't play, football pays the 8 million back to the students, and Neill can say truthfully there have been upgrades "across the board" that would be positive. There are as many students who play other sports as play football and CU is about students first, luxury box seats for fans second.

And there he is, right on cue!

Rs, what we do know is that you keep on complaining about how bad our tennis and "non-revenue" sports facilities are when you said yourself you have nada to compare it to. You said yourself, back in one of your other endless rants, that you don't know what other schools' tennis facilities are like since you have never seen them yourself in person.

"That excess revenue beyond our projections was huge for us," Bohn said. "Obviously, that's tied to football ticket sales and that's why it's so important to have that support there that generates the support for ALL THE PROGRAMS."

Are you calling Bohn a liar? Do you really know CU's sports finances better than our AD?

And by the way, you most hated asset, our luxury boxes, are sold out for the season. Do you doubt what kind of revenue that brings in? Why do you think that the Sonics owners want to move them to Oklahoma City? Get real man.

SO IN CASE ANYONE WANTS TO KNOW THE STATUS OF OUR MAIN MAN DARRELL SCOTT AND HIS FEELINGS COMING INTO BOULDER:

I recently added Mr Scott to my Facebook page and he accepted it and he came online, so I had the opportunity to chat with Darrell for like half an hour or so about everything CU and his status and what not. Here is what I found out and here is what DS is all about:... very cool to pass along to you guys:

First: He says he has been working out all summer and just learning the offensive playbook (while not in Boulder).

Second: He is officially going to arrive in Boulder tomorrow (Wednesday, July 16).

Third: He says he thinks the CU offense, including the No-huddle, shotgun style is "tight". So he loves the Offense.

Fourth: He says while he is in Boulder he just wants to lay low and stay out of trouble. He says he doesn't like to get crazy like some of them do or have done already. That's good.

Fifth: A DS quote: "yeah I'm so ready to get this thing going already. wish the CSU game was tomorrow lol. god I can't wait" So he is excited for the season, as we all should be.

Sixth: I told him he needs to come up with some kind of a salute or hand gesture everytime the Rams chase him into the endzone for a score LOL.. he likes that idea.

Seventh: Then I asked him why he chose CU overall and also what other games he is looking forward to... DS quote: "just the relationship I had with coach Hagan, The great offical visit I had, and the games I'm looking forward to are WV,TX,and FSU"

FINALLY: He says they are going to beat Nebraska this year, no doubt, but he isn't going to get into the whole rivalry with them yet "at this point". Then he finally said he just wants to see the crowd be really into the game and loud and that's what he FEEDS OFF OF.

Let me know what you guys thinks of this. GO BUFFS! Darrell is a very nice guy, is really excited to be playing for CU, he seems real dedicated, and should be a great addition to the program, personality wise and of course, athletic ability.

"Obviously, that's tied to football ticket sales.." is not saying that the surplus was because of an increase in ticket sales. Don't have to call Bohn a liar to know that the surplus came from increased tv money.

As far as ticket sales go, it would be great if there were enough fans to fill Folsom but there aren't. Kyle says that there has been no increase in season ticket sales for 2008. CU can't fill Folsom every week even with it being 2/3 the size of both NU and OU without paper. And the fans we do have let the student's pay for football's deficits. The future lies with Hawk. Hopefully he will attract new fans because the ones we have don't cut it.

Posted by bzainthemd on July 15, 2008 at 9:18 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Rswright,
Here you go again trying to twist words. Read the quote again:

"That excess revenue beyond our projections was huge for us," Bohn said. "Obviously, that's tied to football ticket sales and that's why it's so important to have that support there that generates the support for all the programs."

The excess revenue??? You can easily swap the words excess with surplus. If you can't make that correlation, man, I hope you didn't graduate from CU. That would speak poorly for our english department.

Also, are you saying that CU students are the only students who pay for tickets? Try again. And guess what, and I know we've discussed this before, schools in major metropolitan areas don't sell out every game all the time, especially when the team isn't winning. It is a shame, but it is reality, and CU is not alone. Check USC and UCLA's history. You are right about something though, the future does lie with Hawk and he's doing a fine job so far. Go Buffs.

Kansas will slip, Mizzou will remain solid for another year, Huskers will win 5-6 ( but not against CU), CU will come in second in the North and be this year's "surprise" team, like KU last year.

Tall wont be laughing if CU is 3-1 or better heading into conf play, though Im sure he'll claim Cody is 5'3" by then.

Balance of power shifts back towards CU\NU in 2009, as Mizzou and KU sink back to long term mediocrity by 2010.

KSU has so many Juco players - they shouldn't even be allowed to play D1 football. They should just officially join a JC conference and attempt to dominate there.

This smacks of desperation on the part of Prince, or at the very least, a total lack of confidence in his existing roster. That team chemistry must be all messed up with all these kids coming in.

Ditto what baBUFF said. Hawkins more then belongs.

And dont start with scheduling tall - NU, KSU and most of the rest of the conference make a mockery of scheduling. CU will play the best opponents it can, not play at home until November or schedule patsies.

Beating Tech, OU, NU and being competive to the end against KU more than proves Hawk belongs.

if he gets 9 wins this year, count on coach of the year honors.

Bzain says:"Also, are you saying that CU students are the only students who pay for tickets?"

No. What I said was "And the fans we do have let the student's pay for football's deficits". This refers to the fact that in 05 when football had an 8 million dollar deficit our fans turned in their season tickets by the thousands leaving it up to the University (with student tuition) to pay for the football it provides for our loyal fans. Yes, the very ones who yell Go Buffs! let the kids pay for their fun.

Our posters don't face reality. Football has to be paid for by fans. Hawk is our only hope. If Hawk produces but the fans don't buy tickets, (and there has been no incease in ticket sales this year)there won't be any football at CU. Why such heresy? According to Mike
87% of all Athletic Departments nationwide go into the red each year. CU has insufficient funding from Colorado. CU has to depend on out of state students for its income. If California, Illinois and New York stop sending their kids hear,(recession anyone?) how will CU pay for football if the fans don't? It can't. Mike, who has been trying to raise money from alums lately, can raise money from alums for only so long. The bottom line is Hawk must produce so Mike can sell more season tickets. So if you don't live here send in a donation equal to a season ticket.

But you posters who let the students pay for football should stop whining about funding for students who want to compete in tennis, golf etc.
Until you pay for football you don't have the right.

RS - if tuition/student fees are too high then kids can choose to go to another school - right? I've been reading your same old posts for what seems like an eternity and I am now not sure what your point is. Tennis was eliminated as a sport - that is a bummer. Baseball and wrestling (a top 10 program by the way) were eliminated many years ago as well. It happens. I actually saw a college ultimate frisbee tournament on TV recently. If CU can field an ultimate frisbee club team then I'm certain if students wanted a Tennis club team they could do it. CSU has one that travels to many tournaments each year. Anyway - can you remind me what your whole point of posting on this site is?

Posted by extrapoint on July 18, 2008 at 9:07 a.m. (Suggest removal)

his whole point is anti football. Just like Tall, when he tries to sleep all he sees is football, football, football..........

Posted by rswright on July 18, 2008 at 11:47 a.m. (Suggest removal)

You obviously don't read the posts on this site. Tall provides OU's tennis center, NU's tennis center and CU's. All you have to do is pull them up to compare. If you think CU's is ok,try to find the John, there ain't one. At the same time Hawk is getting new offices and now new meeting rooms. Spend money on things that help the team's performance not on the extras when other sports don't have the basics.

"Baseball and wrestling (a top 10 program by the way) were eliminated many years ago as well. It happens." No, it doesn't just happen. These missing eight sports and the 14 others CU presently has are important programs for students and alums. The eight were eliminated for a reason, to pay for football's deficits because the fans and alums didn't. Why should the students pay football's deficits when CU provides football for fans and alums? Not one poster has ever one has ever addressed this question let alone provide a reason. It's much easier to yell Go Buffs and forget that the students are paying for your fun.

Posted by baBUFF on July 18, 2008 at 12:45 p.m. (Suggest removal)

wrong rs, if baseball and wrestling were so important to students and alums they would still be here. A university cannot offer every single possible program because there are a couple students who would take part. Can every University support a robotics program or a viticulture department? No, they have to choose the most important programs that their students/alums want. Same goes for sports.

The truth, whether you like it or not, is that football is far and away the biggest draw and brings in the most dollars - not just to the school, but to local restaurants, hotels, bars, and shops. The vast majority of fans/alums/students would prefer to build (spend) on football rather than keep less popular sports afloat given the choice. Fact of life.

It's too bad we can't have it both ways, but then again no one is complaining that CU should fund a taxedermy department instead of spending a bunch of money on a new law school building.

Posted by bzainthemd on July 18, 2008 at 1:37 p.m. (Suggest removal)

And Rs,
You are right. I don't read everyone's posts on here. I ignore tall and all that he says, so if he posted some link to pictures of OU and NU's tennis facilities, so be it. I don't pay attention to him.

However, YOU have never personally seen these things and a sample size of 3 is no sample size at all. You have never addressed this question, so again, you have no right to whine.

And again Rs, if the following quote doesn't explain why we might need to splurge on football as a Athletic Department, I don't know how to help you man:

"That excess revenue beyond our projections was huge for us," Bohn said. "Obviously, that's tied to football ticket sales and that's why it's so important to have that support there that generates the support for all the programs."

If that does not say that making our football program better not only improves our football team, but all athletics at CU, than please tell me what that quote means. And please, without good facilities and good coaches we would not have the recruits coming here and we would not have the support for our team that generates this kind of revenue. Winning brings fans. Winning brings money. Spending on football brings wins. Wins bring revenue. That's the game. Spending on tennis does nothing. Sorry man. Maybe you should become a fan of NU or OU if you love their tennis facilities so much.

Again, if the tuition/fees are too high you can go to another school. That's the choice every student/parent has. "Dad, I want to go to CU" says Junior. "Son, sorry but the fees which support footbal are too high so you need to go to Univ of Northern CO." I assume that since we have a record breaking freshmen class coming in the fees that students/parents pay to support football as you put it aren't too high at all.

Posted by bufffan8 on July 18, 2008 at 4:33 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Also, there are a ton of students at the games. the team is for the students as well. And the alums already paid 4, sometimes 5 years of tuition. Therefore they have already "given" to the University. I don't give a dime to USC but I can still cheer for them when they are on TV. Or should I feel guilty cheering for them because I don't donate to their program?

Posted by rswright on July 19, 2008 at 9:04 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Buffan:
"There are a ton of students at the games."
The students come after half time when they have had time to party all day.(Remember only you fans can get a beer at a CU game). Always have and always will. If you had to sit in the end zone next to the band, you wouldn't come till after half time either.
Second, there are 30,000 students and if they care at all about football, they care until their first 8 0'Clock Monday morning. CU provides football for fans and alums not for students.Look at how much of the stadium is set aside for students and how much for fans. Bufffan is one of those fans who leave it up to the students to pay for his fun.
Sorry you ain't no bufffan.

The fees as CU are high because Colorado doesn't fund its flagship University. And kids come here because it is a great place to go to school, and get an education, not because they wish to pay the football deficits that our loyal fans don't want to pay.

"And the alums already paid 4, sometimes 5 years of tuition. Therefore they have already "given" to the University."
Wrong. No true alum ever says he won't give because he has paid tuition.Just shows that Bufffan is not an alum.

Unfortunately for CU reading the posts shows most of our fans didn't go to CU and they couldn't care less about CU except that they like football. Check out how few of our posters post on anything other than football, no posts on other sports, no posts on any other aspect of CU. Don't bother you won't find any.

"if baseball and wrestling were so important to students and alums they would still be here."
Wrong again. Learn a little CU history. They aren't here because we had a football deficit that eliminated 8 sports, not because they weren't important, but because football makes money. That doesn't mean baseball etc.isn't important it means they were eliminated because they don't make money.

Brain: When you don't pay for your own fun, you have no basis to criticize golf, tennis, baseball etc.
The fact that you don't read our posts says a lot about you. You say that there has been no comparison shown between our facilities and other facilities when all you have to do is open the sites to see the comparison. Wake up.

Posted by bzainthemd on July 20, 2008 at 10:14 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Rs,
Learn to read...my name isn't Brain. I do pay for my own fun, moron. And I don't need to look at pictures of two other school's tennis facilities. Learn a little about statistics...A sample size of 3 does not make a sample size at all.

Futhermore, you wake up man. Who said I don't read other people's posts? I said I don't read tall's posts. That's it. I don't waste my time reading posts from posters who write stuff just to piss people off.

On another note, Rs, you need to WAKE UP! There is a reason that you don't see people post things about other aspects of CU on this site. It is because this is a SPORTS site, idiot. You need to find another site if you want to talk CU academics, professors, classes, campus, etc...

I am a CU alum. '98. I do give back to my university. And when I was a student, I did care about football more than just until 8 am Monday, as you try to imply. I'm sure I wasn't and am not alone. Your attempt to characterize every poster on this site and every CU student is shameful. You are so out of touch with reality is amazing. You still haven't explained how Bohn's quote above says anything but how CU football ticket sales help fund all athletics. Again, you are out of touch. It's obvious Rs, you ain't no Buff fan.

Posted by rswright on July 21, 2008 at 10 a.m. (Suggest removal)

"It is because this is a SPORTS site, idiot". That is why these posts emphasize football deficits. They caused CU students to lose 8 sports including baseball, wrestling, hockey.

"I do pay for my own fun, moron".
Easy to say. Fans and alums didn't pay the football deficit of 8 million and left it up to the students to pay for their fun, 8 million dollars worth.

"Learn a little about statistics" The stats show no increase in season ticket sales in 2008. source: Kyle Ringo. The surplus came from increase in TV money not ticket sales. Source: Mike Bohn.

"Who said I don't read other people's posts? I said I don't read tall's posts". (isn't Tall other people?). Too bad you didn't read his post. He listed OU and NU sites which show the sports facilities our competition has. You could learn something. Football gets the extras (Hawk's new potty) while the other sports don't get the basics. Like a place to play home matches. It doesn't take a brain (or a survey) to know a facility without plumbing, shelter, even paved roads is unique which is why brain fits.

Posted by bufffan8 on July 21, 2008 at 10:27 a.m. (Suggest removal)

RS - Baseball and wrestling were eliminated as a result of title IX. Again, if you can't afford the tuition/fees or don't like where the fees go then send your kids to another school. Simple as that.

Posted by baBUFF on July 21, 2008 at 10:37 a.m. (Suggest removal)

RS, if baseball and wrestling were so important to the CU community (alums, students, fans) and Football was running up a huge deficit, why didn't CU cut football so they could save the other sports? You know the answer - because football makes money and the other sports don't. You said it yourself in your post.

Clearly CU does not generate the kind of donation money that other schools do, but what money does come in is generally directed at football. Why? Because people who do spend money would rather spend it on football than tennis, baseball, golf, etc. If you, or other like-minded fans wanted to pony up, baseball could have been saved. Go build a golf course and donate it to the golf team if you're concerned about their home matches because other than you, most fans would rather see a winner on the football field, even if it means other sports have to do with less. Simple fact.

Last time I checked, CU students still had to pay for season tickets to football. I know they're pretty cheap, but if the students were so outraged about haveing to pay for football's deficits and everyone else's fun, why do they pony up the extra for season tickets too? How many letters do you think Mike Bohn has gotten from students upset at having to pay for football and demanding equal distribution of revenue to tennins, etc? I could probably count the number on one hand, but I only have to look at the student section on game day to see thousands of students who don't seem to mind.

Posted by bufffan8 on July 21, 2008 at 10:39 a.m. (Suggest removal)

By the way - I know plenty of Alums that do not give back to their universities. You should check with CU and see what percent of Alums make donations. If you think it is 100% you are crazy.

I am a Buff fan. I prefer football to the other sports which is why I comment about football articles. You won't see me at a women's soccer game because I am not a soccer fan. I hope they win every game but that doesn't mean I will attend the games. Essentially what you are saying is all CU fans need to support not only football but all other sports and donate to the university. Yea right. By the way - they don't sell beer at Folsom. Clearly you don't attend football games. Being a true Buff fan one would think you would attend games. Hmmm

Posted by baBUFF on July 21, 2008 at 10:59 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Until CU finds its own T. Boone Pickens or Phil Knight to throw cash at the AD, or until CU can pack its football and basketball stadiums for every game, non-revenue sports are going to get the bare minimum from the AD.

It sounds cold, but I (and I suspect most Buff fans) would rather get our football assistants a pay raise and see football become a winner than buy bathrooms and grand stands for tennis. Someday, I'd love the AD to be running huge surpluses so we can do it all, but we're not there.

Posted by bufffan8 on July 21, 2008 at 11:10 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Hey RSwrong. Would it surprise you to hear that the percent of CU alumni that donate to the Univ is less than 50%. So less than half of CU alums are true alums according to you. I leave it up to the students to pay for my fun you say, well then i must have paid for a lot of people's fun when i was a student so i guess we are even.

You have now resolved to mere rambling, making up facts, and taking things out of context.

There's no point arguing with a moron like you anymore. I suggest we all just ignore idiots like Tall and Rs. Maybe they'll go away.

At which school did he learn to spell plural as pleural? Then he tells someone else to learn English. He claims above to be a CU grad. CU must wince every time he does.

Correcting grammar on these sites is what people do when they've run out of thoughts or constructive arguments. People type fast and words get mis-spelled, no one is winning a Pulitzer here.

Rs,
Sorry, a misspelling is different than completely taking quotes and concepts out of context and twisting them to try to make a point. My bad. By the way, I am a radiologist and the word "pleural" refers to the lining of your lungs. It is a word I use all the time in everyday practice, so sorry if I dictate radiological studies all day and misspelled "plural" on this site.

Once again, I am a CU grad and a licenced doctor in multiple states. So, if you want to start comparing education with me, bring it. I'm sure CU is not ashamed of me or any other proud grad on this site. And again, don't come at me about misspelling. I'm still not sure who Brain is.

Rs,
I really don't have to prove myself to you. It's not worth my time. I know my capabilities. You don't know me and I won't rehash why I think you fail to understand reality. This article speaks for itself. The mere fact is that it seems that nobody agrees with you, no matter how much you spat off incorrect facts or take things out of context. You can nitpick what people say to defend yourself all you want, but you're not convicing anybody that you're right. You can call out our football program and AD for putting us in the red and that students have to pay for football all you want, but nobody agrees with you.

What is obvious to me is that you don't understand how real universities work and never will. I should have listened to my own advice a few days ago and ingored you. So should everyone else. Maybe you'll go away when you don't have a forum anymore.

It is amazing how our posters don't like to read their own words. Plueral, idiot, moron. If you don't like reading what you say, don't say it. No one asked you to prove yourself. You told us you were a doctor, had gone to many schools and most laughable, to learn English.

Sticking with sports, doc says "You can call out our football program and AD for putting us in the red and that students have to pay for football all you want, but nobody agrees with you."

First, if it's true then it doesn't matter if anyone agrees with you or not. But if it's not true, then it's a simple matter, prove it's not true. Come on, doctor, it's time to put up or shut up. (and don't try to weasel out).

Secondly, no one said anything against the program. Nor that the AD put us in the red. The program is fine (excepting too many arrests) and Mike is doing a great job (overall). Sloppy posting doesn't get you anywhere, as you should have learned by now. (as have ep and ba on other occasions. Still telling us how football players are picked on by those rich kids, Ep?)

Rs,
I think you are the weasel. You need to put up or shut up. Look at everyone here. They're not disagreeing with me. They disagree with you.

You claim all sorts of nonsense and never back it up with real numbers. You make all sorts of claims and then attempt to use backwards logic to back it up. The day you go see other universities and their tennis facilities, IN PERSON, and try to compare our tennis facilities to theirs, maybe I'll listen. The day you explain to me how Bohn is incorrect in saying that our football tickets sales directly impact all sports at CU is false, and how spending on our football team doesn't benefit all sports at CU, maybe you'll have some credibility. You've argued against these ideas for a long time now, and have convinced NOBODY so far.

As I said, I have nothing to prove to you and it's not worth my time. I have way more important things to do. Just look at how many people have listened to you go on and on. Now, ask youself. Why is nobody agreeing with you? Are we all ignorant, blind to how university athletic budgeting works, and uninformed...or is it just you?

I'm done with this thread. And no, you didn't prove me wrong...you're just a waste of my time.

Doc Zain,
You have a better chance of engaging in a productive discourse with tallisal or a banana slug, than you would with RSWright (or Soapbox Boy, as I prefer to call him).

In a recent post, extrapoint suggested that we use RS in our oil drilling efforts (as he is spinning so hard). I would like to go one further and say that, if RSWright does drill himself into the ground, I will be happy to help in filling in the hole.

My advice to you, Doc (as well as to anyone else who is new to this board), is to acknowledge Talli and RSWright (by the way, I am starting to suspect that, like Talli, RSWright has been posting under an alias - RWE) strictly for kicks or comic relief. Don't even bother trying to have anything resembling a sensible exchange, as they will fill the blog with their insanity (in defense of talli, at least he is just a bugeater trying to stir the pot, while soapbox boy is a crazed, angry, axe-grinder who is actually convinced of his own insane arguments - sorry talli, no disrespect intended (to you or to banana slugs) in grouping you with Soapbox Boy).

GO BUFFS!!!
