COLORADO SPRINGS -- The Colorado women's tennis team won seven of 11 singles matches in the first day of the Air Force Invitational on Friday.

CU seniors Monica Milewski and Franziska Jendrian each advanced to their respective singles semifinals with victories.

Milewski won her fifth straight match of the fall season defeating Wyoming's Sarah Summerfield, 6-1, 6-0 in the Falcon Draw, while Jendrian escaped Colorado State's Tori Arneson, pulling out a three-set match 6-0, 5-7, 6-4 in the Silver Draw.

Also in the Falcon Draw, CU junior Melisa Esposito advanced to the semifinals with a pair of triumphs, defeating Manuela Santos of Northern Colorado, 6-1, 6-1 in the Round of 16, then followed with another straight-set winner over Lauren Strasburger of Colorado State, 6-1, 6-2.
