Tolan closed with a 72, giving him a 4-over 220 for the tournament, good enough for a tie for 11th.
The Buffs finished with a 905 team score, the first time CU did not break 900 in five fall tournaments. TCU won the event with an 861.
UC-Davis' Nate Pistacchio and TCU's Johan de Beer shared medalist honors as both finished with 6-under par 210 scorecards.
CU junior Luke Symons tied for 30th, shooting 74 on Tuesday to finish with a 227. He was followed by freshman teammate Kevin Kring (230), senior Patrick Grady (231) and sophomore Michael Imperato (232).
"We just have to get back to basics and learn from what happened," Edwards added. "We did not play our best here, but we just have to get a little better at all aspects of our game."
The Buffaloes have won tourney remaining this fall, New Mexico State's Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate, Oct. 27-28 in Las Cruces, N.M.
