For the second time this season, Jess Peluso has been honored as the best defender in the conference.
On Tuesday, the sophomore defender from the Colorado women’s lacrosse team was tabbed as the Pac-12 Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Peluso also won the honor during the second week of the season, and it is the third weekly honor so far in 2024 for the Buffs, as Madeline Pisani helped CU sweep the Week 2 awards as the Offensive Player of the Week.
Since joining the Pac-12, it is the first time a CU player has won the weekly defensive honor twice in the same season.
Peluso finished with a career-high five forced turnovers during CU’s 15-7 road win at California on Saturday, a mark that was the most caused turnovers by a Pac-12 player this season. Peluso is the only Pac-12 player with at least four forced turnovers in multiple games this season.
Despite winning at Cal on Saturday, the Buffs (6-3) dropped two spots to No. 22 in this week’s IWLCA top 25. CU returns home to host San Diego State in a Pac-12 battle on Saturday afternoon at Kittredge Field (noon, Pac-12 Mountain).
